Detailed Description Smart card readers – Purchase of ID scanners

Establishing the identity of applicants is an important first step in various processes of the Civil Affairs Department. Identity is established both manually and with tools. One of the tools used by Civil Affairs are ID scanners that are used to verify the authenticity of documents. The verification takes place by the scanner comparing the submitted document with the sample documents officially offered by the country in question. These ID scanners are always used for authenticity checks of foreign travel and residence documents, but sometimes also for Dutch passports, ID cards and driving licenses.
